This weeks post goes through the CMSA pattern #1 also known as the Arrow. These are just 2 possibilities but they are by no means they only way to run this pattern. Choose whats best for you and your horse. Also, my friend Kelsey is running the pattern in this video. She graciously let me film her as I'm recovering from an injury. This was her third time ever doing mounted shooting and her first time riding Copper. She did a great job! Thanks Kelsey!

This gun change drill is something you can do on horseback. It's a great piggyback off of the first gun change drill we gave you that you can do in your living room. Be sure to check that out as well by clicking here. This drill is best done as a dry fire drill. While you of course can use live ammo and shoot at balloons, you will constantly have to replace them. Not the most practical use of your time. Be sure to focus on keeping your arm straight and aiming at your target. Lastly, try not to look at your holster during your gun change. The post of this drill is to create a smooth transition between your pistols. You should know exactly where to place your first pistol each time. As always, if you have any questions feel free to leave a comment below. Happy trails and shoot straight! -Courtney |
